Chief Complaint: She noticed a dark spot on her upper front tooth.

Clinical Examination

Tooth Involved: Maxillary right Lateral incisor (#12).

Findings: A Class V carious lesion located on the labial cervical third, extending into dentin with no pulp involvement. The tooth was vital and asymptomatic.

 

Treatment Procedure

  1. Shade Selection: Utilized a shade guide under natural light.

  2. Caries Removal: Conservative preparation with minimal removal of sound tooth structure.

  3. Adhesive Protocol:

    • Etching with 37% phosphoric acid

    • Application of a universal adhesive

    • Light-curing

  4. Composite Restoration:

    • Thin flowable composite liner

    • Dentin-shade composite as core

    • Enamel-shade composite for surface layering

  5. Finishing and Polishing: Sculpted anatomical contours followed by sequential polishing discs and final polishing brush for high lustre.

 

Outcome

  • Aesthetics: Seamless colour match, smooth surface, natural tooth anatomy restored.

  • Function: Normal occlusion; no interference in bite.

  • Patient Satisfaction: Expressed high satisfaction with the appearance and feel.
